May 2015
The geothermal tubing was laid and concrete poured in all 8 containers. Now we are just waiting for the ceiling to be complete so we can have the atrium poured.

June 2015
The ceiling is done ! We used metal roofing that would be used as exterior roofing as our ceiling. Saved on hauling 12 ft sheets of drywall up 16 ft and then having to tape and mud overhead also 16 ft up. Turned out good.

Now we  can get the geothermal tubing run in the atrium and have the cement poured end of this week.

Spring has FINALLY arrived in Maine after a VERY long winter so we are back at work. We have been preparing the floors for concrete by installing the geothermal tubing. All the containers are ready and the upper floors were poured yesterday. Today the lower 4 containers were poured and next week (hopefully) the atrium floor will be poured. We are having the ceiling installed (it is tin and the electric in the atrium needs to be completed so we aren't running scaffolding over new cement floors. Once those floors are done, we are in full gear to completion. We will be moved in no later than the first of August !! Can't wait !!

Here is one of the lower cabinets in my retro kitchen. I bought 50's metal cabinets and had them painted at an auto body shop in cobalt blue. They turned out gorgeous !!
many photos from last year not on the blog so here goes....enjoy !
We are making all doors in the house slider barn type. We had round wooden discs made with a groove in them to roll on the steel track. Expensive to buy the parts so we made them ourselves.
 wallboard up in the atrium.
spiral stairs leading to my daughter's side.

Any respectable container has graffiti and ours are no exception ! We commissioned a local graffiti artist from Portland Maine to add some to one container. We gave him free reign and here is the result ! Absolutely love it ! The neighbor's....not so much but then again they weren't thrilled with our choice of building materials in the first place.

It has been way too long since I updated this and now that the house appears on many new container sites, it is time. Drywall took most of the summer. We had help installing some of it with my husband and I installing it in the containers. I was good at mudding and taping so after I saw my husband's seams, I took over that. (one has to wonder if he made it look bad on purpose...) Originally we had decided on drywall for the atrium ceiling but in reality trying to find someone to install it 16ft up would have cost a fortune so we opted for metal roofing material. Yes we will have to add lots of fabrics to help with the echo of all that metal !

We had hoped to be in the house by fall but there was just too much left to do and winter in Maine was fast approaching. The interior plumbing was completed and the water heater in and we have 2 bathrooms left to be drywalled.
